Over the last three weeks I have released the tutorial for the Princess castle and also the amigurumi Princess and Knight doll patterns. For the final week of the Princess Castle series week I am sharing my favourite pattern, the Dragon. The finished dragon measures around 29cm tall and is 19cm wide across his wings. Like the princess & the Knight, the dragon fits perfectly into the Princess Castle. He is made using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook and is constructed in several pieces that are sewn or crocheted together as well as using some join as you go techniques.
Like the Princess & the Knight dolls, the dragon also works as a great scrap busting project, as he doesn’t use very much yarn in any colour, less than 30-50g depending on whether you make him using DK yarn or not. He also has 5mm safety eyes and whilst he takes a little longer to make than the princess or the knight he is definitely worth taking the time over. I based much of this pattern on my Therizinosaurus pattern but added his own unique details too. He would probably work up great in a thicker yarn and larger hook to make a larger toy for cuddling rather than for roll play as he was designed.
Next week, I will be starting to release some smaller summery patterns, and continue to work on getting my summer crochet clothing tested and finished to go on the blog soon. If you would like to be involved in testing patterns for me then please go to the pattern testing page or message me to find out more information.
You can get the pattern for the crochet Dragon below;
See you next week,

3. Notes
Here are a few handy tips to help you with the pattern.
·
There is no specific gauge for this dragon; you will need
to work as tightly as you can.
·
The dragon is made in separate parts, some are joined
together as you crochet and others are sewn on.
·
Do not ch 1 at the end of the rows, just turn and work next
row, this creates a neater edge
· Do not sl st and join when working in the round unless otherwise stated as this gives a neater look

You now need to sc the back and body pieces together. Position the pieces so the tails are
together and the insides facing each other.
Then hold the pieces so the back is towards you, starting at the neck
and working round to the tail and back to the neck again single crochet the
pieces together in dark blue. Stuff tail
and body as you go.
