Tunisian Wash Cloth

This wash cloth uses a double ended crochet hook and is worked in two directions with two different colours, to create a completely different effect to regular Tunisian Crochet.   I chose, once again, to use up some odds and ends from my cotton stash and since these wash cloths don't use a lot of yarn, they are great for destashing.  In this example, I chose to use some blue and purple cotton and the colours work really well together.   It took a little while to get the hang of using the double ended crochet hook, figuring out when to turn was tricky, but by half way through the wash cloth I had it sorted and had developed a good rhythm. The great thing about this design is you only need to know the Tunisian simple stitch, the textures and patterns are created simply through the turns and colour changes.

I finished this wash cloth off with a simple border  consisting of a round of single crochet in purple and then a round of shell stitch in the blue colour.   The stitch counts were not perfect for the shell stitch border, so it was a little fudged, but that doesn't really notice in the finished product, and it fits in fantastically as part of the Spa Gift Basket project.

The pattern for this Tunisian Wash Cloth can be found below, and I hope that you will join me next week for the release of the next Spa Basket pattern, the shower puff.   See you then,
